Community guidelines

Effective

Island AI is a place for the people and businesses of Al Marjan Island and Ras Al Khaimah. Real names, real places, real opinions. These guidelines say what is welcome and what gets removed. They apply to everything you do on Island AI: your profile, photos, listings, business pages, projects, endorsements, nominations, votes, questions to the AI and reports. They are part of our Terms of Use.

Be real

  • Use your own name or a name people know you by. One person, one account.
  • List only businesses you own or are allowed to represent.
  • Don't pretend to be another person, business or Island AI's team.
  • Don't create fake accounts, buy or trade follows, endorsements or votes, or use bots.

Be accurate

  • Keep your listing true: prices, opening hours, contact details, photos of the actual place.
  • Say when something changed. Edits to a published listing go live at once, so check them.
  • Endorse what you know. Don't endorse your own listing from another account, and don't pay for endorsements.
  • Facts the AI found for your listing are suggestions. Confirm them before you publish.

Be respectful

Island AI removes content that:

  • harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone;
  • is hateful or discriminatory, for example because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability;
  • is sexual or pornographic, or sexualises anyone under 18 (this is reported to the authorities);
  • promotes violence, terrorism, self-harm, or illegal goods or activity, including drugs and weapons;
  • offends public morals, religion or public order, or breaks UAE law.

Respect other people's rights and privacy

  • Upload only photos and texts you have the right to use. Ask before you post a photo in which someone is recognisable.
  • Don't post other people's private information: phone numbers, home addresses, documents, private messages.
  • Don't add someone to a business page without asking them. They can leave at any time.
  • A nominee's contact details go into a nomination only if you are allowed to share them.

No spam, no scraping

  • No unsolicited advertising, repeated posts, or links to scams.
  • No scraping, bulk downloading or automated use of Island AI.
  • Don't try to break or overload Island AI, or to make the AI features ignore these rules.

What we do

  • We review first. Every new listing, project and Island Awards nomination is checked by our team before it is published. Names, handles and About texts are also checked automatically for words we don't allow.
  • We act on reports. In the app you can report any profile, listing, page or AI answer from its ··· menu or its Report a problem link; on the website, Report a problem is at the end of every place, service and project page. We look at every report within 48 hours. We don't say who reported.
  • We remove and we ban. Content that breaks these guidelines is removed. Depending on how serious it is, the account gets a warning, a limit, a suspension or a permanent ban. Zero tolerance means serious cases are banned at the first offence.
  • We tell the authorities when the law requires it.

What you can do

  • Block anyone from their profile's ··· menu in the app. Follows between you are removed and they can't endorse your listings. They are not told.
  • Report content or people. If you are in danger, call the police first.
  • Hide your lists. In the app, Settings › Privacy lets you hide who follows you, who you follow and what you endorse.
  • Delete your account at any time, in the app or on the website.
